Internationally wanted/Dangerous drug trafficker arrested in Tirana

A 45-year-old Albanian citizen, declared internationally wanted, has been arrested in Tirana after a coordinated operation between Albanian and Italian authorities.

Sources indicate that he had been on the run for four years and was wanted by Interpol, following an arrest warrant issued by its headquarters in Lyon, France.

Investigations conducted by the Italian side had revealed that the 45-year-old was mainly staying in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, while his recent return to Albania was used for intervention and arrest.

He previously lived in Mestre, near Venice, where he is suspected of being an active member of a criminal network involved in cocaine trafficking. According to investigators, he had an organizing role in securing and distributing narcotics on the local market.

The arrest was carried out as part of Operation "Wanted", an initiative to capture high-risk individuals on international wanted lists, led by Italian authorities in collaboration with their partners. / CNA
