Belgian Chief Prosecutor, Ann Fransen, in an interview given to "De Morgen ", provided details about the files she has been investigating since taking office, including the fight against Albanian organized crime.

Fransen said that after breaking into the encrypted platform "SKY ECC" they encountered shocking reports of extreme gang violence.

"In the fight against the cocaine mafia, in recent months we have focused strongly on the recovery of criminal assets. The profits from drug trafficking often disappear abroad: in Morocco, Albania, the Emirates. We are one step further with the Albanians. Albanian organized crime continues to gain ground. This was evident from the breach of the encrypted messaging service "Sky ECC". Investigators came across shocking reports, which showed that the gangs do not shy away from extreme violence," said Fransen .

Fransen said they are cooperating with SPAK in the fight against the cocaine mafia and the focus is on recovering criminal assets, ensuring that members of these groups hand over high-value assets.

"Now we are going after the money. Together with the Albanian justice, we are drafting a framework for the seizure of the benefits of criminal activities. We want to achieve this in the Emirates as well. We must not only ensure that they hand over high-value assets, but also that we can recover their illicit assets," said the Belgian chief prosecutor./ CNA
