Matrix is ??an encrypted communications application used by organized crime.

It was first discovered by the Dutch authorities on the phone of a person convicted of murdering a Dutch journalist in 2021. After the revelation of the messages, a large-scale investigation was launched into the communications in this application. 

The investigations were carried out by the Dutch and French authorities, in cooperation with Europol and Eurojust, while the Italian, Lithuanian and Spanish counterparts also cooperated in the execution of the measures.

The verifications revealed that the infrastructure of this platform was technically more complex than previous platforms such as "Sky ECC" and "EncroChat".

The founders were convinced that the service was superior and more secure than previous applications used by criminal groups.

Users could only join the service if they received an invitation. For the "Matrix" application, there were more than 40 servers in several locations in France and Germany. 

Using innovative technology, authorities were able to intercept the messaging service and monitor activity for 3 months. More than 2.3 million messages in 33 languages ??were decrypted during the investigation.
