This Monday afternoon, Julian Gjoshi, the person accused of murdering 50-year-old Alfred Dedja, surrendered to the police.

The news has been confirmed by the Tirana police, which informs that the 26-year-old was detained after appearing at the police station.

Julian Gjoshi turns out to be a person with a criminal record, as he was arrested for carrying weapons without a permit in 2021.

He was sentenced to 3 years of probation by judge Shefkie Demiraj.

This probationary sentence was supposed to end on December 23.

"Following the actions for the event that happened on 01.12.2024, where at around 15:30, in a bar in Ndroq, the citizen AD, about 50 years old, was shot dead, we inform you that:

Thanks to the quick and coordinated actions of the DVP Tirana Police in cooperation with the Durrës Local Police Directorate, the numerous checks carried out based on police intelligence, the finding and blocking of the suspected vehicle used by the perpetrator, as well as the blocking of passageways and the impossibility to stay hidden, the suspected perpetrator turned himself in to the Police.

Following the actions, the Serious Crimes Investigation Specialists at the Tirana Local Police Directorate arrested the suspected perpetrator, citizen J. Gj., 26 years old, resident of Shijak.

For the clarification and legal documentation of the event, for the securing and seizure of evidence and the arrest and detention of the perpetrator, the Crime Investigation Structures at the DVP Tirana have worked professionally in close cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office and other structures of the State Police.

The special investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is continuing the work for the complete clarification of the circumstances of the event and its legal documentation", it is stated in the police announcement. / CNA
