A boat with migrants capsized in the English Channel.
BBC reporter Simon Jones has reported on casualties, but there is still no confirmation from the authorities.
Lifeboats, coastguard rescue teams and an air ambulance were dispatched to assist the search and rescue operation.
HM Coastguard helicopters from Lydd and Lee on Solent and one from the French Navy have also been involved in the operation, as has a fishing vessel in the area.
The incident is reported to have happened around 4 am today.
"We are aware of an incident in UK waters and all relevant agencies are supporting a co-ordinated response. Further details will be provided in due course", said a spokesman for the British government./ CNA.al
