Suspected of attacks on KFOR/ 1 citizen detained in the Municipality of Zvecan

A person suspected of committing criminal offenses against the constitutional order and security in Kosovo has been arrested.

The Kosovo Police, through operational channels, has received information that the suspect Lj. M., who is suspected of having actively participated in the attack on KFOR and the Police on 29.05.2023 in front of the municipal building in Zveçan, has entered Kosovo from Serbia.

The Special Prosecution Office was informed about the case and in coordination with the Special Prosecution Office, considering the gravity of the crimes committed and the potential risk of escape since the suspect works and resides in Serbia, as well as the possibility of manipulation or disappearance of evidence, the Kosovo Police has taken action to detain him and ensure his presence in the criminal proceedings being conducted against him, regarding suspicions of committing criminal offenses against the constitutional order and security.

The suspect Lj.M. was detained by the Kosovo Police in the Municipality of Zveçan and, in order to secure evidence and testimony, a search was conducted at his home, with the support of the Mitrovica North Police Department.

During the search of the suspect's home, the following material evidence was seized: a phone, various military uniforms, two USBs, and a 't-shirt' with a nationalist inscription, which he was suspected of wearing on the critical day.

The suspect was interviewed in the presence of a lawyer and an interpreter and, by decision of the prosecutor, was taken into custody for 48 hours. Also, by decision of the prosecutor, a case was initiated for the criminal offenses: 'Union for anti-constitutional activities, with the aim of attacking the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo', 'Endangering persons under international protection', 'Attack on an official' and 'Participation in a crowd that commits criminal offenses and hooliganism' ./CNA
