The State Police has taken stock of the arrests of persons wanted for the purpose of extradition.

Only in the first 7 months of 2024, 80 persons announced as wanted internationally were arrested for the purpose of extradition to our country, of which 74 Albanian citizens and 6 foreign citizens.

Meanwhile, during the same period, 58 persons announced as wanted internationally were extradited and transferred to our country, of which 53 Albanian citizens and 5 foreign citizens.

The bringing to Albania and the placing at the disposal of justice of persons wanted by the Special Prosecutor's Office continued with high intensity even during the month of August 2024. As a result, it was possible to arrest persons investigated and suspected of some of the most serious criminal events of in recent years, for which the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has issued decisions on the assignment of the security measure "prison arrest".

In cooperation with the Special Prosecutor's Office and the Prosecutor's Office of the General Jurisdiction, the Department of International Cooperation and "Interpol Tirana" intensively pursues the international wanted announcement and the exchange of information with partner countries and organizations for persons wanted by justice, in addition to professional investigative work and tracking of specialized units at the Criminal Police Department./ CNA
