A 52-year-old man announced as wanted internationally by the Italian authorities has been handcuffed by the Shkodra Police, after being sentenced to 8.8 years in prison.

He was located and then arrested in Velipoja with the intention of extradition to Italy.

Police notification:

The 52-year-old, from Peqin, was declared internationally wanted by Interpol Rome/Italy after the Laquila/Italy Court of Appeal in 2022 sentenced him to 8 years and 8 months in prison for the criminal offenses "Criminal Organization", "Narcotics Trafficking ” and “Prostitution”.

The 52-year-old man, declared internationally wanted by the Italian authorities, for the criminal offenses of "Criminal Organization", "Trafficking in Narcotics" and "Prostitution" was caught in Velipoja and arrested for the purpose of extradition.

Following the "Rule of Law" mega-operation, for the capture of wanted citizens, based on the information provided during the operation for the location of an internationally wanted citizen, the Narcotics Investigation Section in cooperation with the Traffic Section Rrugor and the Velipoja Police Station located, captured and arrested with the intention of extradition the citizen Shpëtim Memolla, a resident of Peqin.

This citizen was wanted internationally by Interpol Rome/Italy after the Court of Appeal Laquila/Italy in 2022 sentenced this citizen to 8 years and 8 months in prison for the criminal offenses of "Criminal Organization", "Trafficking of narcotics" and "Prostitution".

Interpol Tirana in cooperation with Interpol Rome continue the work for the extradition of this citizen to Italy./ CNA
