Trump: India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete ceasefire

US President Donald Trump declared this Saturday that India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire after a fourth day of attacks and counter-attacks against each other's military installations.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister also said that the two countries had agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect.

"After a long night of talks brokered by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate and complete ceasefire. Congratulations to both countries for using Sound Logic and Great Intelligence," Trump said in a post on 'Social Truth'.

As reported by the news agency 'Reuters', the announcement came on a day when fears that the countries' nuclear arsenals could come into play grew, as the Pakistani military said a top military and civilian body overseeing its nuclear weapons would meet.

But the Pakistani defense minister later said that no such meeting was planned.

At the same time, officials from both sides showed willingness for the moment to take a step back after the day's exchanges of fire, as the number of civilians killed on both sides of the border rose to 66. /CNA
