Trump responds to claims: Israel never convinced me to go to war with Iran

United States President Donald Trump has denied claims that Israel persuaded him to go to war with Iran.

In a post on the "Social Truth" platform, Trump writes that Hamas' attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, were what reinforced his view that Iran could never have a nuclear weapon.

Among other things, he has criticized experts and polls for "fake news" and adds that just like the results of the US intervention in Venezuela, the results in Iran will be "amazing." In his response, Trump also had a message for Iran's "new leadership." 

“Israel never convinced me to go to war with Iran, the results of October 7th reinforced my lifelong belief that IRAN CAN NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I watch and read the experts and fake news polls with complete disbelief. 90% of what they say is lies and made up stories, and the polls are rigged, just like the 2020 presidential election was rigged. Just like the results in Venezuela, which the media doesn’t like to talk about, the results in Iran will be amazing - And if the new leaders of Iran (Regime Change!) are smart, Iran could have a great and prosperous future ,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

According to international media, Vice President JD Vance and senior American officials are expected to depart tomorrow for Islamabad, Pakistan, ahead of a possible second round of talks with Iran.

Meanwhile, Iran's foreign ministry earlier insisted that Tehran "had no plans" to participate in the next round of talks. /CNA
