The situation from the clashes in the north/ EULEX: Calm must be established urgently

The EULEX mission in Kosovo has stated that the situation in the north of Kosovo is unacceptable and very disturbing.

In a statement for Klan Kosova, EULEX says that the security situation remains tense.

 "The recent escalation of violence in the north of Kosovo is disturbing and unacceptable. The security situation there remains tense and this is a major concern. We are deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of civilians, police officers, journalists, members of EULEX and KFOR. The priority should be security on the ground and maintaining peace", EULEX declared.

EULEX has called to manage the situation and reduce tensions.

"We would like to call on everyone to act prudently, avoid violence and take action to de-escalate the situation. Peace must be urgently restored in the interest of all communities living in the north of Kosovo".

He also condemned the violence against KFOR members, and added that no EULEX members were injured yesterday.

"We strongly condemn the violent actions of the protesters in Zveçan, which resulted in the injury of several KFOR members. We wish all the injured a speedy recovery", declared EULEX.
