Elections in the north of Kosovo are postponed.

The news was announced by President Vjosa Osmani, who announced that the elections will be held in April 2023.

"In order to ensure the greatest possible participation of citizens in these elections, observation by local and international institutions, security for all citizens without distinction, as well as sufficient time for security institutions to make efforts and take actions additional for order and law in the north of the country, I appreciate that the postponement is necessary", said the president.

She stated that a concrete date for the elections has not yet been set, but she emphasized that she will announce the following.

"We discussed about the most suitable date and suitable time and in the end with full consensus, after my proposal we came to the conclusion that it should be postponed to April 2023, and the exact date of April, tonight or later tomorrow morning it will be shown to the public", underlined the president of Kosovo.

Osmani announced this decision after a meeting he had with representatives of political parties.

We remind you that local elections were scheduled to be held on December 18 in the four municipalities of North Mitrovica, Leposaviç, Zveçani and Zubin Potok.
