Explosion at the weapons factory in Berlin

German media reports that a large explosion has occurred at the weapons manufacturing plant in Berlin-Lichterfelde.

Spokesman Adrian Wenzel revealed details saying that the four floors of the building were completely burned.

Part of the building has already collapsed. About 160 firefighters are on duty to extinguish the fire.

According to the German media Bild, it is confirmed that chemicals are also burning in the building.

"We can confirm that chemicals are also burning in the building. Sulfuric acid and copper cyanide were stored there. There is a risk that hydrogen cyanide will form and rise into the air with the smoke."

The company in question, Diehl Metal Applications, develops the IRIS-T air defense system, which is currently in service in Ukraine.
