Cattle disease breaks out/France sends armed forces to the field

France's armed forces have been deployed to help vaccinate livestock nationwide to combat the "lumpy skin" disease.

As reported by local media, France has deployed its armed forces to accelerate a nationwide livestock vaccination campaign, as the disease spreads in several regions.

The government aims to protect around 750,000 animals as the outbreak puts pressure on farmers and veterinary services. The move follows a call from Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu to step up civil efforts.

Since December 20, the Armed Forces Health Service has been working alongside state agencies and farmers in the affected departments.

Almost half of the livestock in Ariege has been vaccinated, rising to over 70% in Aude and reaching full coverage in Pyrénées-Orientales. /CNA
