2 kg of cocaine seized at the Merdare border crossing/ How the narcotic

Two kilograms of narcotics were seized today at the Merdare border crossing in Kosovo. According to a police statement, the two kilograms of suspected cocaine were found sophisticatedly hidden inside a vehicle that was stopped at the entrance to Kosovo territory.

An X-ray scanner was also used for a thorough inspection of the vehicle, which enabled the precise localization of the place where the narcotics were hidden.

Today, on 02.02.2026, at the Merdare Border Crossing Point, Kosovo Customs officials, in close coordination with the Kosovo Police - Directorate for the Investigation of Narcotics Trafficking, conducted a detailed check of a suspected vehicle at the entrance to the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.

During the detailed search, approximately 2 (two) kilograms of narcotics, suspected to be cocaine, were discovered hidden inside the vehicle. The substance was sophisticatedly concealed inside the vehicle.

To carry out the in-depth search, an X-ray scanner, donated by the United States of America, was also used, a device that has significantly facilitated the work of officials and enabled the precise localization of the place where the narcotics were hidden.

The case is being handled by the competent authorities, while further legal action will be taken against the persons involved, in accordance with the legislation in force.

Kosovo Customs and Kosovo Police remain committed to the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking, through close inter-institutional cooperation, intelligence exchange and the use of modern technical capacities, with the aim of preventing illegal activities and guaranteeing the security of citizens and the borders of the Republic of Kosovo. /CNA
