Medvedev: Russia does not completely rule out a wider global conflict

The deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council and former Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev, said that the world is becoming very dangerous, but that Russia does not want a global conflict.

He stressed that the global situation is very dangerous and the threshold for escalation appears to be falling, increasing the risk of a major conflict.

Medvedev said that Russians are not crazy and do not seek global conflict, but such a conflict cannot be completely ruled out.

His statement came in an interview where he spoke about rising international tensions and the risk of the war in Ukraine escalating into a wider state of conflict.

Medvedev also mentioned that renewed diplomatic contacts with the US are a positive sign, but the situation remains delicate. /CNA
