The second round of elections in Montenegro/ Vote for the President

On the morning of Sunday, April 2, polling stations opened for the second round of the presidential elections in Montenegro. Nearly 550,000 Montenegrins have the right to vote until the polls close at 8:00 p.m.

After winning the most votes in the first election round on March 19, the candidates for the position of president for a five-year term are Millo Djukanovic and Jakov Millatovic.

Djukanovi? is the leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and the current president of Montenegro. The 61-year-old has been at the head of Montenegrin politics for more than 33 years.

These are the fourth presidential elections since the renewal of Montenegro's independence and the seventh since the introduction of the multi-party system.

The regularity of the election process will be monitored by the observation missions of the ODIHR, the European deputies and the Council of Europe, as well as by the non-governmental organizations Monitoring Center and Center for Democratic Transition./ Rel
