A senior US official said on July 22 that Washington believes that Russia is facing hundreds of casualties every day as it wages war in Ukraine, and that it has lost thousands of lieutenants and captains since the invasion began.

In addition to lieutenants and captains, hundreds of colonels and "many" Russian generals have also been killed, Reuters news agency reported, citing the official.

"The chain of command still has problems", said this official.
