The blockade ends today/ Ukraine and Russia sign the agreement, grain exports

Today it is expected that the agreement between Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the Secretary General of the UN, António Guterres, will be signed to resume Ukrainian wheat exports to the Black Sea.

The news was announced by the office of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, saying that a general agreement was reached on a UN-led plan during talks in Istanbul last week and that it will now be put on paper.

The details of the agreement are not yet known, but it will be signed at the Dolmabahçe Palace offices at 2:30 p.m.

We recall here that the UN and Turkey have been working for two months to broker what Guterres called a "package" deal, to resume Ukraine's wheat exports to the Black Sea and facilitate Russian shipments of grain and fertilizer.

Ukraine appeared to strike a cautious note about the deal Thursday night. Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko told Reuters that a document could be signed that would oblige the parties to enable the safe operation of Black Sea export routes.

Nikolenko said that the Ukrainian delegation at the talks would only support decisions that would guarantee the security of Ukraine's southern regions, key positions of Ukraine's armed forces in the Black Sea and safe exports of Ukrainian agricultural products.
