Government of Kosovo: Regular energy supply is ensured after the attack in the

The Minister of Economy of Kosovo, Artane Rizvanolli, said on Saturday that a regular supply of electricity for the country and central heating for the citizens of the capital, Pristina, has been ensured, after the attack on the Ibër-Lepenci water channel in the north of the country.

An explosion on Friday evening caused significant damage to the Ibër-Lepenci water channel in the village of Varragë in the municipality of Zubin Potok, jeopardizing the supply of water and electricity in the country.

From this canal, several cities in the country are supplied with water through Lake Ujman, as well as the Energy Corporation of Kosovo for the cooling of its thermal power plants.

"Ibër-Lepenci, around 02:00 after midnight, in a record time, has installed six temporary pipes with sufficient capacity to provide water for the cooling of the 'Kosova B' power plant. Therefore, we expect the electricity supply to continue intact" , said Rizvanolli in a post on Facebook on Saturday morning.

She said that after an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council of Kosovo, it was also decided that the authorities of the country coordinate with the Energy Corporation of Albania to provide additional energy to avoid eventual reductions.

Rizvanolli added that "this terrorist act" has also affected the water supply.

"While the water supply in Pristina will be compensated by Badovci and Batllava, the supply in Fushë Kosovë, Drenas and the Mitrovica region will be provided through autobots, starting from this morning," she said.

The explosion in Ibër-Lepenc did not cause any casualties, according to Kosovo authorities.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has accused Kosovo's northern neighbor, Serbia, of a "criminal and terrorist attack", which, according to him, aimed to "damage perhaps the most important infrastructure" of the country.

The explosion was also condemned by international representatives in Kosovo.

The attack on Ibër-Lepenc was the third within the last 72 hours in the north of the country, inhabited by a majority of Serbs, after the explosions that occurred in a police station and in the Municipality building in Zveçan.

After these attacks, the Kosovo Police said on Friday that they have increased security measures in Kosovo, including in the northern part of the state, where "several serious criminal attacks or incidents" have occurred in recent days./REL
