The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has accused NATO member countries of participating in the conflict in Ukraine by donating weapons to this country, and has said that the West is planning to destroy Russia.

"They are sending billions of dollars worth of arms to Ukraine. This is participation," Putin said in an interview with the Rossiya-1 channel.

"This means that they are participating, albeit indirectly, in the crimes being committed by the Kiev regime," Putin said.

Ekspertët e ligjit ndërkombëtar pajtohen se dërgimi i armëve në luftë nuk e bën furnizuesin palë në konflikt – pavarësisht se çfarë armësh janë ato.

Putin ka thënë se vendet perëndimore kanë “një qëllim të vetëm – për të shkatërruar ish-Bashkimin Sovjetik dhe pjesën e tij kryesore – Federatën Ruse”.

“Vetëm atëherë ata ndoshta do të mund të na pranojnë në të ashtuquajturën familje të njerëzve të civilizuar, mirëpo vetëm ndaras, secilin veç e veç”.

Përgjatë intervistës, Putin i ka përsëritur thirrjet për një botë multipolare dhe ka thënë se “nuk ka dyshim” që kjo do të ndodhë.

“Çka kundërshtojmë ne? Jemi kundër faktit që kjo botë e re, që po merr formë, është duke u ndërtuar vetëm në bazë të interesave të një vendi, Shteteve të Bashkuara”.

"Now that their attempts to reconfigure the world according to their wishes, after the fall of the Soviet Union, have resulted in this situation, we are obliged to react," Putin said, among other things.

The war in Ukraine started on February 24, 2022.

The Russian president calls the war a "special military operation" to demilitarize Ukraine.

The West has responded to Russia, hitting the economy of this country with harsh sanctions.
