Poland will send Ukraine 60 modernized tanks

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said that Poland will send dozens of tanks to Ukraine this year.

In an interview for Canadian television, CTV, he said that his country will send 60 advanced tanks, in addition to 14 tanks of the German model, Leopard 2.

Warsaw, which has positioned itself as one of the most supportive countries towards Ukraine, has put considerable pressure on Germany in recent weeks to enable the delivery of Leopard 2 tanks to Kiev.

Germany has agreed to send these tanks to Ukraine, but has also given the green light to other countries to do the same.

"Right now, we are ready to send 60 of our modernized tanks, 30 of them PT-91. In addition to them, there are also 14 Leopard 2 tanks, which we have at our disposal" .

The PT-91 is a Polish main battle tank, which was first used in the 1990s.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zekensky has thanked Poland for sending more tanks.

"Together, we will win" , he wrote in a post on Twitter.

The war in Ukraine started on February 24, 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin calls the war a "special military operation" to demilitarize Ukraine.

The West has responded to Russia, hitting the economy of this country with harsh sanctions.
