Bus overturns in Mexico/ 10 people die, over 30 others injured

A serious road accident has killed at least ten people and injured 32 in Mexico. According to reports, a bus went off the road and fell into a stream, authorities in the state of Veracruz announced.

The tragedy occurred in the town of Zodecomatlan, while the bus was operating on the Havana-Chicontepec line.

"We have confirmed nine adults and one child dead so far ," the Zodecomatlán mayor's office said in a statement. The city also released a list of the 32 injured and the hospitals they were taken to.

Fatal road accidents, involving buses or trucks, are frequent in Mexico and are usually caused by excessive speed or mechanical defects.

In late November, 10 people were killed and 20 others injured in a similar accident in the western state of Michoacan. /CNA
