Warnings about the increase in the price of electricity / Citizens of Pristina in protest

Many citizens protested today in Pristina against the announced increase in the price of electricity. With banners and opposing slogans, the protest began near the facilities of KEDS and KESCO, the companies responsible for the distribution and supply of electricity.

The reason for the protest is KESCO's request to the Energy Regulatory Office to increase the price of electricity by over 21 percent for 2026, while the decision is expected to be made during April.

During the protest near the KEDS facility, one person was arrested by Kosovo Police after throwing flares. The protesters then marched to the Energy Regulatory Office, where they demanded that energy companies be returned to state ownership.

In conclusion, the protest continued near the Kosovo Government building, where they demanded a halt to any attempt to further increase the price of electricity, while protesters placed banners with messages against price increases and what they described as abuse of energy bills. /CNA
