A team of journalists is attacked in Zubin Potok

Kosovo police have confirmed that on Monday a team of Klan Kosova television journalists was attacked in the village of Zupç in Zubin Potok, injuring two of the team members and causing material damage.

"The attack on them is suspected to have been carried out by some masked persons, who with strong tools (stones) attacked the medium's vehicle and the journalists who were on duty", it is stated in the announcement of the Kosovo Police, which further states that has started investigations related to this case.

The European Union office in Kosovo has condemned this incident saying that such attacks are unacceptable.

“Ky dhe incidentet e mëparshme që e ndikojnë punën e mediave janë të papranueshme. Mediat kanë çdo të drejtë të raportojnë. Siguria e tyre nuk duhet të rrezikohet”, thuhet në reagimin e Zyrës së BE-së, e cila i dëshiroi shërim të shpejtë ekipit të gazetarëve.

Edhe Asociacioni i Gazetarëve të Kosovës (AGK) ka shprehur shqetësim lidhur me sulmet ndaj gazetarëve në veri – deri më tani janë raportuar gjashtë incidente të tilla – për të cilat ka thënë se janë “kërcënim serioz për sigurinë e gazetarëve dhe pengojnë raportimin për zhvillimet në veri”.

“AGK-ja, kërkon nga KFOR-i dhe EULEX-i që të luajnë rol shtesë për të garantuar sigurinë fizike të gazetarëve, që vazhdojnë të jenë cak i sulmeve të organizuara nga grupe personash të maskuar”, thuhet në reagimin e AGK-së.

Some of the journalists who are reporting from the north of Kosovo, where some local Serbs have erected barricades, have told REL earlier that they do not have proper protection while reporting.

The barricades in the north have been erected since December 10 by some local Serbs, in protest against the arrest of former member of the Kosovo Police, Dejan Pantiq, who is accused of organizing the "terrorist attack" on the offices of the Central Election Commission.

Since then, a number of incidents have been recorded, where, in addition to journalists, members of the Kosovo Police and international troops, such as EULEX and KFOR, have been attacked./REL
