Meet the "home" of the dinosaurs in Canada

Alberta in Canada is the "home" of the largest deposits of dinosaur fossils on Earth. The small town (population: 7,968) is the self-proclaimed "Dinosaur Capital of the World". 

In this extraordinary badlands topography, dinosaur bones are commonly seen being dug up from the ground and some of the region's most amazing discoveries are displayed at the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology, a globally renowned natural history museum and research center that attracts more more than 430,000 visitors each year.

Conditions have also been perfect for preserving dinosaur fossils. Seasonal storms and floods killed them in great numbers, then quickly buried their corpses under large amounts of sediment.

 "Water was the key to this amazing random cycle of events. Water helped create life, brought about death, buried dinosaur remains in perfect conditions for preservation, then set fossilization in motion. Alberta is, as a result, the focal point world's hottest dinosaur," Jim Gardner, a paleontologist at the Royal Tyrrell./ CNA
