Under US mediation/ Second day of Russia-Ukraine talks begins in Abu Dhabi

Ukraine and Russia began the second day of talks in Abu Dhabi today under the mediation of the United States to discuss how to end the war, which is now four years old, the head of the Ukrainian delegation participating in the negotiations, Rustem Umerov, announced.

"The second day of negotiations in Abu Dhabi has begun. We are working in the same formats as yesterday: trilateral consultations, group work and further synchronization of positions ," Umerov said in a post on the Telegram messaging app.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, has stated that progress has been made and that there is positive movement forward in the talks taking place in Abu Dhabi between Russians and Ukrainians in the presence of Americans on a peace agreement for Ukraine.

"There is definitely progress, things are moving forward in a good and positive direction ," Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev told reporters.

A new round of trilateral peace talks involving Ukraine, the United States and Russia began yesterday in Abu Dhabi. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that the interest of the Ukrainian side in the upcoming two-day round of peace talks in Abu Dhabi is to find out what the Russians and Americans really intend.  /CNA
