An operation to rescue migrants on the southern coast of the Greek island of Crete is being carried out by the Greek authorities.
Two coastal ships, coast guard vessels, an Air Force helicopter and a Navy helicopter went to the scene.
According to the public broadcaster ERT, one person was found dead, while 39 others were rescued and transported to the municipality of Kandanos - Selinos.
