Kaja Kallas criticizes Chancellor Scholz

A few days after taking the direction of foreign policy in the EU, the Estonian Kaja Kallas criticized the German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, for his political course in Ukraine. "Ukraine needs more long-range weapons, more ammunition, in order to be strong when it comes to negotiations. The stronger Ukraine is militarily, the stronger it is at the negotiating table . That should be our focus," Kallas told the German newspaper, Süddeutsche Zeitung. So far German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has repeatedly rejected the delivery of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

"Do you want international rules to apply?"

The head of the EU for foreign policy, Kaja Kallas, also criticized the refusal of the German chancellor to mention as an objective a victory of Ukraine in the defensive war against Russia.

"I don't understand why people are afraid to use those words," she said. It comes down to simple questions: "Do you want international rules to apply? Do you want a world where force does not triumph over right? Are the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity enshrined in the United Nations Charter and should they be respected? "If you answered yes to all these questions, then you must want Ukraine to win."

Kallas spoke in favor of Ukraine's admission to NATO to protect the country from Russia. "I believe NATO membership is the security guarantee that works," she said.
