A little while ago, the funeral ceremony for the former prime minister of Italy, Silvio Berlusconi, started.

The ceremony began shortly after the body of the former Italian prime minister arrived at the cathedral of Milan, in the Duomo. It is led by the archbishop of the city, Mario Delpini.

More than 2,000 dignitaries from different countries are present at the state ceremony.

Among those present are the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, while hundreds of thousands of citizens have gathered outside the Cathedral.

We recall that Berlusconi passed away on June 12 at the age of 86, after battling leukemia for some time.

He served four terms as Italy's prime minister, and every time it seemed his career was over, Berlusconi would come back and stir the waters.

The former Italian prime minister founded his own party, Forza Italia, in 1993, playing an important role in politics.

Silvio Berlusconi owned several television channels, while he was also the former president of the AC Milan football club./ CNA.al
