Hundreds of Macedonians have gathered in front of the Government, protesting with the motto "Ultimatum - No thanks" against the acceptance of the French proposal, for the removal of the Bulgarian veto and the opening of negotiations for Macedonia's EU membership.

According to them, the denial of the right to self-determination and the conditioning of Macedonia's European integration with the acceptance of the unilateral erasure of cultural and historical features and the unilateral ignorance of the language, is not part of the criteria for EU membership, nor is it a rule between member states.

The protest that officially started last night has no organizer, but has been supported by political parties and civil society organizations, who think that the proposal is extremely bad for the Macedonian people and Macedonian national interests. 

The protest also received support from the largest opposition party VMRO-DPMNE, whose leader Hristijan Mickoski called on citizens to unite in order, as he said, to defend what is called European value and save the negotiation process with the European Union.

And tonight the participants send messages against the French proposal and appeal not to sign it. The national anthem was sung and patriotic songs played over the loudspeaker. /CNA.al
