Will the war in Iran "break" US-Israeli relations? / Witkoff speaks

Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, has denied reports of disagreements between the US and Israel after canceling a planned visit to the country this week.

"The visit we intended to make was not so much about smoothing over differences, because I don't think there are many differences. It was much more about coordination, understanding where they were," he said in an interview.

Witkoff said the trip was canceled for reasons unrelated to concerns about Israel's weekend attacks on Iranian oil facilities.

CNN reported that, while the US was aware that Israel planned to target several Iranian fuel depots, some within the administration were surprised by the scope of the attacks.

Witkoff said he and Kushner could travel to Israel next week, but added that a date has not yet been set. He also indicated that there will be a trilateral meeting with Russia and Ukraine next week as well. /CNA
