Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in an interview for "DerStandard" has confessed that he has held several secret meetings with the Serbs living in the north of Kosovo, but for some reasons he has not made them public. Kurti says that the Serbs of the North of Kosovo feel threatened and he has shown this with a specific case.

" There are 47 newly recruited Serbian police officers. We have awarded three million euros to agriculture, start-ups and NGOs in the north. I have been to the north several times and met the Serbs; but these meetings are not made public because people are looking for me. Their families are under pressure. A Serb I appointed as an adviser resigned after two hours because his wife immediately lost half his salary. This year alone, 15 vehicles with Kosovo license plates were burned in the north," said Kurti.

Asked what happened that the agreement with Serbia was not reached in both cases when it was ready, Kurti has toughened his language towards the EU negotiators.

" The negotiators asked me what I thought about it. I said that the referee should blow the whistle if there was a violation of the agreement. Whenever Belgrade violates the agreement, the whistle is not blown. Can you imagine a referee who has lost his whistle and now just follows the players? This probably has to do with the policy of appeasement. But because the West is so soft on Serbia, it is paradoxically pushing it towards Russia, even though the opposite is intended. Because Belgrade loves and fears Moscow more than Brussels." - said Prime Minister Kurti.

Referring to the event that happened earlier in Banjska, Kurti said that Serbia has a similar attitude towards Kosovo as Russia towards Ukraine, and that through the attack Serbia wanted a big conflict for a longer period of time, considering that it had brought over five million weapons and ammunition of Serbian production in Kosovo./ CNA
