The border crossing point between Kosovo and Serbia in Jarinje was fully opened for traffic on the morning of October 18, almost a month after it was closed.

The deputy director of the Kosovo police for the northern region, Veton Elshani, told Radio Free Europe that this border point was opened at 08:30 on Wednesday.

The border crossing point in Jarinje, but also the one in Bërnjak - located in the north of Kosovo inhabited by a majority of Serbs - were closed by the Kosovo authorities on September 24, after the armed attack on the Kosovo police, which the authorities in Pristina describe as an attack terrorist.

Bërnjaku was already opened for entry/exit on October 4, while Jarinja was blocked for entry into Kosovo, while it was only open for exit.

The authorities in Kosovo have blamed Serbia for the attack on the Kosovo police on September 24 in Banjska in Zveçan. Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed in an attack by an armed group of Serbs.

During the clashes between the armed group and the police, three attackers were also killed.

The responsibility for the organization and leadership of the attack was taken by Millan Radoicic, former vice-president of Lista Serbe, the main party of Serbs in Kosovo that enjoys the support of official Belgrade. The United States and the European Union have strongly condemned the attack, while Kosovo, through a resolution approved in the Assembly, has requested an international investigation for Serbia regarding the attack in Banjska.

Kosovo has asked the European Union to impose punitive measures on Serbia, while the European bloc has said that they are waiting for the investigations to be completed and then they will decide on the eventual measures and steps./ Rel
