Various areas in Greece have been under fire for days. The strong winds blowing in Attica have carried the smoke coming from the burning of the forest of Parnita, in Katsimidis, to the center of Athens. On the Acropolis smoke is visible while the smell of burning can be felt as far as the city. According to Greek media, the fire broke out at noon on Saturday, causing traffic diversions.

Strong winds are blowing in the country, which push the fire towards Tatoi's royal estates. The residents were notified by the emergency services through the phone number, with the message

"Fire in the forest in the area of ??Katsimidi Parnitha. Stay ready and follow the instructions of the Authorities".

To extinguish it, 60 firefighters with 3 pedestrians and 15 vehicles have been mobilized, while 2 planes and 5 helicopters are operating from the air. At the same time, the firefighters are assisted by volunteers, water tankers and machines of the OTA project. There is a lot of mobilization to bring the front under control as very strong winds blow in the area. The entire mechanism of the Attica District has been put on full alert to help with all means in the efforts of the firefighters to extinguish the fire.

Since the first minutes of the fire, the District Civil Protection Directorate has immediately responded to the request of the Fire Service for the equipment with 10 water tools, while it is at the highest readiness to help evacuate the area, if this is requested by the competent bodies

The Governor of the Attica District, Nikos Hardalias, the relevant deputy governors and district civil defense officers are in constant contact with the District Operations Center and are informed of developments. As pointed out by the Department of Civil Protection of the Region, all our competent services are on standby to assist immediately in any possible way in whatever is required of them by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, which has the responsibility of coordinating field operations.

Meanwhile, the residents were notified by another message from 112 about the evacuation of four areas, which was sent to them on Saturday afternoon, in Serifos, where the flames spread rapidly. Those in the areas of Koutalas, Ganema, Vaya and Kalo Ambeli should move towards Chora tis Serifos via Koutalas, should follow the instructions of the Authorities. Another fire broke out on Saturday afternoon in Livadi.

The fire is burning low vegetation near the settlement, but the work to extinguish the fire is made difficult by very strong winds. Earlier, a message from "112" was sent to the residents of Ramos and Livadi to leave for Serifos. There is a vehicle with three fire engines and water trucks at the scene.
