Russian attacks in Ukraine/ Six civilians killed

Russian airstrikes and shelling have killed at least six people in the past 24 hours in Ukraine, officials said, as the Ukrainian military reported limited progress in its latest counteroffensive to retake territory seized by Russia since the start of illegal occupation.

Four people were killed when a Russian anti-tank missile hit a civilian car in the Kharkiv region on June 17, Governor Oleh Synyehubov said. This incident happened in the village of Hurviv Kozaçok, located about one kilometer from the Russian border.

In the southern Kherson region, two people were killed and 25 wounded by Russian shelling over the past day, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin said on June 17.

The city of Kherson has been hit by 44 Russian shelling, Prokudin said, adding that Russian forces have targeted residential neighborhoods, schools and administrative institutions, as well as a commercial center.

Russian forces have shelled the town of Nikopol in the southern Dnipropetrovsk region, hitting private homes, commercial centers and supply lines, regional council head Mykola Lukashuk said.

In the eastern Donetsk region, the town of Vuledar has been shelled 20 times by Russian artillery, regional governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian army said that there was an attempted missile attack in the Kiev region, but Ukrainian forces managed to repulse this attack.

On the battlefield, according to the General Staff, fighting is continuing in Donetsk around the city of Bahmut, Avdijivka and Marjinka, where 36 battles have been fought in the last 24 hours./ REL
