"You will end up like Saddam Hussein"/ Israel warns Iran's

Defense Minister Israel Katz warned Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei of a fate similar to Saddam Hussein during a statement this morning with senior military leaders.

"I warn the Iranian dictator against continuing to commit war crimes and launch rockets at Israeli civilians. He would do well to remember the fate of the dictator in the country neighboring Iran, who chose the same path against the State of Israel," Katz said.

Katz was referring to Hussein, an Iraqi strongman who was overthrown in 2003 during the US invasion of Iraq and later found hiding in a secret desert hole and hanged.

Katz referred to an Israeli attack a day earlier on the headquarters of Iran's state broadcaster, IRIB, in Tehran, saying that other extensions of the Iranian civilian regime's rule could also be targeted.

Katz's threat left room for maneuver, as technically Hussein was actually killed by his own people after a long period of escape and hiding after US forces overthrew his regime in Iraq./CNA
