The British Foreign Secretary, David Cameron, emphasized in Pristina the importance of peace and stability in the Western Balkans, stressing that Great Britain is investing in this process. According to him, Great Britain will continue to support Kosovo in the field of security and its membership in international forums in a period of international uncertainty.

"We live in a world of great uncertainty, great instability, a world of great conflict and it is a time when countries like Britain need to support our friends, work closely on our important alliances and invest in areas that have been unstable but are now showing great signs of stability and progress. And that's why we're here and that's why we want to continue to work with you," Cameron told a news conference media in Pristina.

A world of great uncertainty

The British Foreign Secretary, David Cameron, met in Pristina, President Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, and Foreign Minister Donika Gervalla. The latter, during the joint conference, said that she knew the British diplomat about the challenges that Kosovo has faced during the past year, with special emphasis on the September 24 attack in Banjska in Zveçan, when an armed group of Serbs attacked the Police of Kosovo, killing a policeman.

"The old recipes before Russia's attack on Ukraine for solving challenges and conflicts no longer work. The West has been successful when it has had a clear and determined position. The West has been strong politically and economically when it has acted with determination and based on his unshakable principles in the face of an aggressive Moscow and not with weak and unprincipled compromises", said Gërvalla.

Visit to the British troops

The British Foreign Secretary, David Cameron, also visited the British troops that were stationed in the north of Kosovo, after the attack by the Serbian armed group on the Kosovo police on September 24. Britain sent an additional 200 troops after the Banjska attack, bringing the number of troops in Kosovo to 600. The attack in Banjska provoked international concerns about the stability of the region and for this reason, NATO decided to increase the number of soldiers in Kosovo.

"We talked this morning about your security and the important contribution we can make to that, given the fact that Britain plays a major role within the KFOR peacekeeping force. We have more than 600 British troops here. We are proud of the training and support we are giving your armed forces and their great success during exercises in the United Kingdom," said Cameron. According to him, stability in the Western Balkans is very important and in the interests of Great Britain.
