Pakistan talks/ Vance: US will reach out to Iran if they act in good faith

US Vice President JD Vance, ahead of a trip for talks between US and Iranian delegations in Pakistan.

"We look forward to the negotiations," he said before boarding the plane, adding that the US is ready to extend an open hand if the Iranians act in good faith. However, he added that if they try to deceive us, the US will not be open.

US President Trump has given him guidance for the discussions, he said. The talks will take place in Islamabad, Pakistan, and are expected to begin on Saturday, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt said earlier.

Vance will be accompanied by special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, but Islamabad is still waiting for the Iranian delegation to arrive, our correspondent in Pakistan reports. /CNA, translated by BBC
