EU: Leaks in Russian pipelines, deliberate acts

The European Union believes that the leaks in two underwater Russian gas pipelines that occurred this week are "not a coincidence", but there are indications that they are "deliberate acts", said the bloc's diplomacy chief, Josep Borrell.

Expressing "deep concern" about the leaks in North Stream 1 and 2, he called for an investigation. Borrell added that "all the information so far suggests that these leaks are the result of deliberate acts".

Një zëdhënës tha se Policia suedeze ka “krijuar një raport dhe ky krim është cilësuar si sabotim”.

Leaks in Russian pipelines have raised fears of a growing energy crisis as Western countries cut off Russian energy supplies following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian presidential adviser, Mikhaylo Podolyak, said that the gas leaks were likely caused "by a terrorist act" carried out by Moscow.

Moscow had cut gas supplies to Europe through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline. Meanwhile, in August it cut off all supplies from the pipeline, saying Western sanctions had caused technical problems.

The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is complete, but Germany abandoned its plan to make the pipeline operational just days before Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
