1 week inside the deepest cave/ 150 employees rescue the American researcher

The rescue team was able to get out of the deepest cave in Turkey the American researcher Mark Dickey, who had been stuck inside the cave, for more than 1 week.

More than 150 people were involved in the rescue of Mark Dickey after he suffered stomach problems in Morca Cave on September 2.

Organizers say it was one of the biggest and most complicated underground rescues ever carried out.

The lowest point of Morca Cave, in the far south, reaches almost 1.3 km (0.8 miles) underground.

Dickey was pulled out of the cave at 00:37 local time (21:37 GMT), the Turkish Cavers' Federation announced on social media.

Carl Heitmeyer of the New Jersey First Response Team, a group Mr Dickey leads, confirmed to BBC News that he had been rescued and thanked everyone involved in the operation.

Dickey said he thought he would not survive the ordeal as his condition worsened.

His condition improved after he was given a blood transfusion.

A large number of rescue workers, including from Croatia and Hungary, were involved in this action./ CNA
