Natural tourism, led by Shkodra received 26% of the total number of visitors

The district of Shkodra received most of the visitors to the protected areas in the country. Tourism statistics show that in January-August 2024, this region was visited by over 1 million people, which corresponds to 26 percent of the total number of visitors to the protected areas, which for the 8 months was 3.8 million.

"The number of visitors to the Protected Areas for the month of August 2024 is 1,344,940 foreign and local visitors, with an increase of 2% compared to the month of August 2023. The largest number of visitors are the protected areas of the Shkodër District, followed by protected areas of Berat District; and the third in terms of the number of visitors are the protected areas of Vlora District.

The value of income from protected areas in August 2023 is ALL 5,845,200. During the January-August period, the number of visitors to the protected areas is 3,857,135 or 17.6% more than the same period of 2023," says the summary of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment bulletin.

The region of Shkodra includes Malesia e Madhe, Puka and Shkodra, regions in which some of the most attractive points of natural tourism are located.

During August, the largest number of visitors to the country's National Parks, for the month of August 2024, was occupied by Mount Tomori (48% of all visitors to the National Parks), followed by the Alps of Albania.
