According to the UN, world food prices rose in July

According to a report published today by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, food prices in the world increased in July, after a two-month decline.

The FAO food price index rose to 123.9 points from 122.4 points in June, but is 16.6 points lower than in the same month a year ago, according to the organization's website, Euronews reports .

The value of this index was 124.2 points in May, and 127.7 points in April.

On a monthly basis, the significant increase in the prices of vegetable oils was marked as a result of the increase in world demand - by 12.1 percent, as well as the significant decrease in the prices of sugar, by 3.9 percent, mainly due to good results of the sugar cane harvest from Brazil./ CNA.al
