This morning at several gas stations in Tirana, the price of diesel increased by 6 lekë, reaching the level of 199 lekë per liter.

Almost 2 weeks after the start of the war in the Middle East, the retail market has recorded its highest selling price today. Compared to the price level before the start of the war, the increase is 24 lek per liter or 14% more.

From 193 lek per liter that the price of oil reached on Wednesday (March 11), today in the retail market oil is being traded at a price of 199 lek per liter.

According to Monitor's observation, the price change has been reflected in several points in Tirana, including the retail gas station of the "Elda" company in the Bërryli area as well as the "Bolv Oil" gas station near the New Bazaar. Employees of the retail points claimed that the price change has been reflected since this morning.

While the previous price of 193 lek per liter was reached on Wednesday, March 11, where from 198 lek, the retail price of diesel decreased to 195 lek per liter.

After the outbreak of the war in the Middle East, the price of oil in the retail market has changed several times. Previously, retail oil was traded at 175 lek per liter.

The Hydrocarbons Association explains that oil is a product that is traded on foreign exchanges, and the retail price reflects changes in foreign markets.

On foreign exchanges, the price of Brent crude oil has reached 103 USD per barrel. The price of oil has reached the levels it was at before President Donald Trump's statement on accelerating the end of the war in the Middle East.

Before the start of the conflict, oil was trading at USD 65 per barrel on foreign exchanges.

The country has already set up a monitoring task force to follow market developments following the increase in oil prices.

Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj said institutions will analyze data on fuel prices entering the country through the customs administration and the international fuel trading platform./ Monitor
