The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, was present today at the presentation of the "Cashless Albania 2030" program.

In his speech, Sejko focused on the impact on the Albanian economy of this national program, which according to him is carried out within the framework of payments modernization.

Sejko stated that so far, several important stages have been completed for this program, while the implementation of several other steps remains, such as the introduction of fast payments into the system.

"This program has several deadlines and has been discussed in several preliminary meetings and more broadly among our institutions. In the framework of the modernization of payments, we have taken several steps. Within the program, there is a process with elements that have been discussed. They are divided by dates and deadlines, for the government's program for reducing the economy. It is done through concrete initiatives. It is technically related to the modernization of payments, which begins with the adoption of the law on electronic payments and bylaws, after we have also become part of SEPA. Transfers have been made for the euro, just like for the lek. From this moment on, the implementation of several other steps, such as instant payments, i.e. fast payments. The deadline may be postponed a little, since the connections also with the countries of the region and it may go until the end of 2026. Various payments are also intertwined with the fiscal part, i.e. taxes and finances. So far, we have taken many steps, which fortunately have resulted well and through coordination, these will become possible that will "we discuss", said Sejko./ CNA
