Karavasta Lagoon 2.2 million euros for the second phase of the embankment

After concluding the contract for the first phase of the intervention in the Karavasta Lagoon, the Albanian Development Fund opened the tender for the second phase of this project.

This Thursday in the system of the Procurement Agency, the procedure with the object "Interference in urban spaces, parks, flower gardens, promenades, etc.: Lot 3 - "Systematization and protection of the eastern embankment of the Karavasta lagoon from erosion", Phase II" was opened. with a limit fund of 228 million ALL or 2.2 million euros.

In the procedure documents, it is specified that beyond the erosion protection of this lagoon, it seems that the project aims to bring an added value in terms of tourism by ensuring that a part of the embankment serves as a function for visitors. The project aims for the crown of the embankment to serve as a pedestrian promenade with recreational spaces.

The documents specify that the embankment with a length of 5.2 kilometers will be built according to certain specifications.

"The embankment of the lagoon from CS-1 to CS-277, a total of 5520 m of embankment, will be built and formatted with regular slopes.

The soil for the construction of the body of the embankment will be taken from the soil that will emerge from the excavation of the drainage channel parallel to the embankment (on the outer side of the embankment) as well as from the excavation on the inner side of the embankment (lagoon side).

Before taking the soil to fill the embankment, the vegetation layer will be scarified. The sewage flow scheme, at this stage, is left to function as before. The treatment of the drainage scheme should be done with a separate project, in coordination with the existing drainage scheme of the field east of the Embankment," the document states.

Bids for the procedure must be submitted by interested entities by December 30, which is the closing deadline to continue with the evaluation phases./ Monitor Magazine
