Bad credit, slight growth in August

The Bank of Albania announced that the ratio of non-performing loans showed a slight increase in August of this year.

According to BSH, this indicator rose to 5.3% in August, from 5.28% at the end of July.

The ratio of non-performing loans is also slightly increasing compared to the same period a year ago, when it was 5.2%, BSH announces.

Bankers estimate that, to a large extent, this increase was also influenced by the strengthening of the lek in the exchange rate, which reduced the value of the portfolio in foreign currency.

Meanwhile, the loan portfolio for the economy at the end of August reached ALL 724.6 billion, with an annual increase of 1.9%.

Credit growth this year continues to rely mainly on the individuals segment, where the portfolio is growing by 8.9% compared to a year ago./ ATSH
