The governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko spoke at a press conference about the exchange rate.

Sejko said that the exchange rate has stabilized during the last two months, but emphasized that the foreign exchange market will fluctuate in the near future.

For this reason, he called on foreign exchange market operators to avoid unnecessary exposures to the risk of exchange rates.

"The exchange rate has stabilized in the August-September period, finding a new balance around the current levels. This trend suggests that while the improvement of the foreign balances of the Albanian economy dictates a strengthening behavior of the lek in the medium-long term, the foreign exchange market has been and will remain subject to fluctuations in the short term. For this reason, all operators of the currency market must be careful with their activity, avoiding taking unnecessary exposures to the risk of exchange rates", emphasized the Governor of the Bank of Albania./ CNA
