Analyzing the prices of tourist packages according to the Harmonized Price Index, Eurostat noted that in July of this year, the strongest growth was in Turkey, France and Italy, while on the other hand Norway, Malta, Finland and Montenegro.

According to Eurostat in Albania, the price of tourist packages in July increased by 1.4%, ranking our country among the 10 countries where the prices of tourist services decreased or increased less than in other countries.

The data shows that the prices of tourist packages increased by almost 50% in Turkey in the month of July compared to July 2023. In the last two decades, Turkey has become a competitive destination in Europe.

Initially, the country built large resorts where all-inclusive packages were offered at competitive prices.

Turkey still remains a competitive destination, as prices have also increased in other European countries, while it still offers cheap packages in relation to them.

Tourist packages in France have increased by 22.2%. France with its capital Paris remains one of the main European destinations for intercontinental tourists.

Italy also increased package prices in July by 19%. Rome and almost most Italian cities are globally marketed attracting a large number of visitors from all over the world and especially from Asia.

Furthermore, a large increase in the prices of tourist packages was found in Cyprus, North Macedonia and Serbia and by over 15%.

The Covid -19 pandemic and the restrictions on movement that were applied around the world to curb the spread of the movement further encourage travel with its end. The rapid return of tourists to Europe's main cities is already turning into a concern for local residents, who have risen in protests this year.

A number of cities are considering flat fees to stem the flood of tourists. A few months ago, the Italian city of Venice imposed an entrance tax of 15 euros for every adult tourist visiting the city.

The city hall is collecting a satisfactory income from this tax that even if it does not deter visitors, it will at least provide sources of income that will serve the community.

The international increase in travel has also included Albania. Prices have increased for tourism services, but it seems that the big hotels have kept the package rates for organized tourism under control.

Given that low cost tourists who do not consume much are coming to Albania, businesses are in the dilemma of adapting to this type of tourist or aiming for other levels.

However, the lack of infrastructure, transportation, garbage cleaning and regular supply of electricity and water prevent the provision of services for elite tourists./ Monitor Magazine
