Arrears decrease to the lowest level, 7.85 billion ALL in December 2023

Arrears in December 2023 have decreased to ALL 7.85 billion, which is the lowest level since the start of periodic monitoring by the Ministry of Finance in 2016.

According to the final data of the Ministry of Finance, it turns out that in December 2023, the central government units had 3.01 billion ALL of obligations to pay, while those of the local government had about 4.84 billion ALL.

Compared to the arrears reported in September 2023, it turns out that at the end of the year, they have decreased by about ALL 12.5 billion, or about 61.5% less.

In addition, the liabilities are about 4.15 billion lower, even compared to the period of the end of 2022.

It is also worth noting that until the end of 2023 there will be no arrears in terms of VAT refunds.

In the Program of Economic Reforms, also shared with the European Union, the annual target of arrears of the general government as a percentage of total expenditures for 2023 was set below 2.4%.

With this state of arrears, it results that they are at the level of about 1.16% of the general expenses for the last year, thus exceeding the realization of the annual target of the Economic Reforms Program (ERP).

Referring to the division of government levels into central and local, it results that arrears at the central level have decreased by 9.5 billion ALL, compared to September 2023.
